Little Rock Compassion Center Continues to Reach out to the Needy

The Compassion Center (Rescue Mission) is always there with a hand –up

to the homeless and needy.  All year round the mission stands as a beacon of hope for hundreds of men, women and children who have lost their way.

In the year 2006, we have served over 142,000 prepared meals to the homeless and needy and 600 food boxes to needy families.  We provided beds for over 54,000 overnight guests, 535 of whom had never been to the Compassion Center before.

The year of 2006 was a record year, 142,000 prepared meals were served and 54,000 beds were provided, 678 of whom were first timers.

The citizens of Little Rock and surrounding areas have been so very generous and for this we say a great big thank you.  However, the cold weather season is not over yet.  Many will be caught up in the struggle of surviving.  Along with saying “thank you”, we ask that Arkansans continue to remember the needs all year long.

The mission provided homeless, disadvantaged and chemically dependent people with food and clothing, as well as Biblical counseling, guidance and most importantly, the gift of HOPE.  The mission is privately funded by caring individuals and businesses.

The Little Rock Compassion Center is experiencing immediate food shortages as homelessness and poverty increases.  We have seen a 23%

Increase in the number of people we serve over the past 6 months compared to last year at this time.

The Compassion Center is facing a drastic food shortage and is appealing to the community for donations of canned food and other bulk food items.

“We are currently serving 13,000 meals per month and providing beds for over 5000 people per month” says Rev. William Holloway, director of the center.  The mission stands as a beacon of hope for hundreds of men, women and children who have lost their way.

In the past, the citizens of Little Rock and the surrounding communities have been so very generous and for this we say a great big THANK YOU.

Food items requested include: beans, rice, cereals, pastas, canned vegetables, canned meat, and canned fruit.

Opportunities for individuals, area schools, churches, companies and organizations are available for food or fund drives.  This will help the Center during this time of rising needs of the homeless and poor.

The Compassion Center is an inner-city mission focused on a ministry of hope for the homeless, transient, displaced and disadvantaged people in the Little Rock Metro area.  As an interdenominational Christian ministry, they receive no state or federal funding.
